2. Sarasota Film Festival
The 23rd annual festival returns this weekend, offering both virtual and in-person screenings of films from around the world. This year’s opening film is âRita Moreno: Just a Girl Who Decided to Go,â a documentary about the âWest Side Storyâ actress which will screen Friday at 7 p.m. at CMX CinéBistro Siesta Key and will also be available virtually, although recent. The Oscar-winning nature documentary “My Octopus Teacher” premieres at 6 pm Sunday at the same location. The festival runs through May 9, with several other screenings online and in the theater. 3. ‘Treat Yourself Like a Queen’ Women’s Expo at UTC
Ahead of Mother’s Day, the third annual âTreat Yourself Like a Queenâ Women’s Exhibition returns to the University Downtown Mall with over 40 local exhibitors welcoming women. There will also be a stage with dance performances from local studios, a mother-and-daughter lookalike competition and fashion shows showcasing new styles from mall retailers. In addition, the exhibit will feature free activities such as a photo booth hosted by CoolToday and a beverage sampling station hosted by Loaded Cannon Distillery. 4. Suncoast Porsche and Ferrari on the circle
Between the restaurants and shops of St. Armands Circle, be sure to visit the park at the center of it all to admire spectacular sports cars. The show will feature Porsches and Ferraris from across Florida with various brands on display for the public. 5. Music in the park (ing Lot)
Sarasota root rockers The Divebombers will perform this week on the final date of Realize Bradenton and Manatee Performing Arts Center’s popular concert series, Music in the Park (ing Lot). Fifty parking spaces are available, with four people authorized per space (with their chairs). Reservations are required and can be made at manateeperformingartscenter.com.
