White Castle calls itself ‘100 happy’ at Burger Month and opens largest store in the system
White Castle has pegged its latest promotion to National Burger Month, which begins Saturday May 1 and this year is part of the brand’s centennial celebration.
As the official sponsor of National Burger Month, the brand is offering a month of promotions, including a raffle that will net a customer a grand prize of $ 100,000, according to a press release.
“White Castle is the official sponsor of National Burger Month, having created the month-long event in 1991 to honor the original Slider we created and the industry we launched,” said the President and CEO Lisa Ingram in the release. “So it’s always a special occasion for us, but especially this year as we celebrate our 100th anniversary. We can’t wait to have fun this month with our Craver fans.”
On Saturday White Castle will present its decade-themed Time Machine contest that will explore the brand’s past and present and give customers a chance to win thousands of prizes, ranging from a year of sliders to a shopping bag Telfar, at personalized stands in a restaurant or the name of the winner highlighted on an exterior sign of the white castle. Then there is the top prize of $ 100,000 in cash.
To enter the contest, consumers can go online to WhiteCastleTimeMachine.com and enter daily through July 11.
From one centenary to another
White Castle said about 90,000 people in the United States are also celebrating their 100th birthday this year, and the channel is appealing to two who have a big soft spot in their hearts for sliders. Livonia, Michigan, WWII veterinarian Joseph Girolamo and Chicago resident Ann Lynch will each receive a special note from White Castle CEO Lisa Ingram and a free White Castle meal for themselves and a few guests.
Cursors return to Sunshine State
Finally, in Burger Month, White Castle opens its first store in Florida on May 3 in Orlando, marking the brand’s return to the Sunshine State since operating four restaurants in Miami in the 1960s. The 4567 restaurant square feet – the world’s largest free-standing white castle – offers two drive-through aisles and seating for 72 indoors and 56 outdoors.
Once Orlando Castle opens, White Castle will have restaurants in 15 states. Its retail sliders are available in all 50 states. White Castle, based in Columbus, Ohio, now has over 360 restaurants in its network.
